Malaika Arora’s father, Anil Mehta, reportedly died by suicide on Wednesday morning. As per reports, he jumped from the terrace of a building in Bandra. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. today, and the body has been taken to Baba Hospital. 

While the model and actor is often seen with her mother Joyce, not much is known about her father. Earlier, Malaika has talked about her childhood and the lessons she picked up after her parents’ divorce.

In an interview with Grazia in 2022, Malaika had said, "I had a wonderful childhood, but it wasn't easy. In fact, in retrospect, the word I would use to describe it is tumultuous. But tough times teach you important lessons too. My parents' separation allowed me to observe my mother through a new and unique lens."

"I learned a rock-steady work ethic and the value of getting up each morning to do whatever it takes to become fiercely independent. Those early lessons are the cornerstones of my life and professional journey. I am still fiercely independent; I value my freedom and live life on my terms. The world could be going crazy around me, but these fundamental attitudes imbibed during my formative years hold me in good stead," she had added.

Malaika Arora's father dies by suicide

Malaika's parents separated when she was just eleven years old. Amrita Arora, Malaika's younger sister, was six years old at the time. The sisters relocated from Thane to Chembur with their mother, Joyce, who later married Anil Mehta.

Malaika's stepfather Anil allegedly jumped off the sixth floor of a building in the Bandra district, according to PTI. As soon as the police arrived, they took him to the hospital, where they later declared him dead. According to the official, an investigation is in progress and the exact reason for the incident remains unclear.
