New Delhi: Renowned poet and lyricist Dev Kohli, known for hit film songs like 'Maine Pyar Kiya' and 'Baazigar', has passed away. He was 80 years old. Dev Kohli worked with various prominent music composers including Ram Laxman, Anu Malik, Anand-Milind, and Anand Raj Anand. Dev Kohli's last rites will be conducted today at the Oshiwara Crematorium in Mumbai. It is being reported that the demise of the poet and lyricist Dev Kohli has occurred at his residence. The exact cause of death is not clear at the moment.
Dev Kohli’s death on August 26 was a tragic loss to the music industry. His mortal remains will be kept at his Lokhandwala residence in Mumbai. Today, beginning at 2 p.m., funeral services will be performed at his Jupiter Apartment in Mumbai.
Dev Kohli wrote hundreds of superhit songs for more than 100 films including 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Baazigar', 'Judwaa 2', 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi', 'Ishq', 'Shootout at Lokhandwala', 'Taxi No. 911', and many more. For the film 'Maine Pyar Kiya', Dev Kohli penned down superhit songs like 'Kabootar Ja Ja', 'Aaja Shaam Hone Aayi', 'Aate Jaate Hanste Gaate', and 'Kahe Toh Se Sajna', marking a remarkable return as a lyricist.
Originally from Rawalpindi, Pakistan, Dev Kohli made his debut as a lyricist in 1969 in the film ‘Gunda’. The influence of Dev Kohli extends well beyond his poetry. He has made an unforgettable mark, one that will have lasting effects on the creative world.
