Actor Karan Singh Grover, who married Bipasha Basu in 2016 and welcomed his daughter Devi in 2022, recently opened up about the challenging experience of his daughter Devi’s heart surgery, describing it as one of the toughest moments of his life. Bipasha and Karan’s daughter underwent heart surgery when she was three months old after doctors discovered two holes in her heart.
Karan Singh Grover recalls the time when his daughter underwent surgery
When asked about the most difficult times in his life, Karan told Dainik Bhaskar, "Something or the other keeps happening. I am very lucky that nothing very bad happened in my life. But there was a time when we faced a very big problem with our daughter. That time was very difficult for us. My daughter had a serious health problem, and what she suffered during that time is hard to describe in words.”
"My daughter is a true fighter"
Karan continued, expressing admiration for his daughter’s resilience, "My daughter is a true fighter. She has a long scar on her chest that goes till her stomach. Whatever we think and achieve in our lives is nothing compared to her. Whatever she and her mother (Bipasha Basu) have gone through, it cannot be compared. Nothing like this has happened in my life, I am very lucky. My daughter has proved that she is a true fighter.”
What Bipasha Basu had said about Devi's surgery
Bipasha Basu had previously discussed Devi’s diagnosis during a conversation with actor Neha Dhupia in 2023. She recalled how Karan struggled to cope with the situation, saying, "Karan was a mess, and I had to even throw him out of the ICU sometimes. When I saw her in the ICU the first time with all the monitors and a dressing bandage in the middle of her chest, she was lying there as a hero. Devi is our brave heart and very powerful," she said, tearing up.
The couple learned about Devi’s heart condition on the third day after her birth. Doctors informed them that there was a possibility the holes might close naturally over time, but they advised regular scans to monitor her condition. When no improvement was seen, the decision was made for Devi to have surgery.
