Kangana Ranaut Strongly Calls Out Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal': 'Iss Tarah Ki Filmon Ko Discourage...'
In a recent interview, Kangana Ranaut criticises Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' and calls out 'alpha male' portrayal in films.
New Delhi: One of the most talked-about films of 2023, ‘Animal’ starring Ranbir Kapoor, has elicited mixed reviews from reviewers and moviegoers alike. Many are still arguing over the film's depiction of the "alpha male" notion. In a recent interview, actress Kangana Ranaut voiced her strong feelings on the same.
In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, Kangana Ranaut discussed how "alpha male" concept has been gaining traction with the success of ‘Animal’. She said, "People resort to becoming alpha males to fool others with their wrong deeds. Such actions might make people enjoy themselves for some time, but they will fall face down. When you don't have an understanding of something, you want to exploit that... If you are an alpha male then why are you being Raavan? Be Ram."
The actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut talked about normalising violent and hedonistic behaviour in films. She said, “Kis tarah ki film hai aap dekh lijiye. Box office pe bawaal machati hai patriarchal film, oho. Dekh ke lagta hai ki kahan se nikal rahe hain yeh log taaliyan seetiyaan marne? Kulhaadi leke agar ladke nikle aur maara maar khoon sirf kulhaadi leke nikle hue hain. Na koi unko law and order pooch raha hai kuch. Machine guns leke voh school main jaate hain, jaise ki police hai hi nahi. Jaise ki uske consequences hain hi nahi.”

Lastly, Kangana emphasised the need to oppose and hold responsible films that promote such notions. She stressed on the significance of media accountability in drawing attention to the real-world repercussions of violent portrayals. The actress said, "Chinta ka yeh vishay hai. Iss tarah ki filmon ko discourage hona chahiye aur ninda honi chahiye."
