New Delhi: Kajol got into the spotlight when comments she made against Indian leaders went viral on the internet. Kajol finally spoke up after receiving heavy criticism for her comment on "visionless leaders." The actress remarked that certain political leaders don't have college degrees, which infuriated many people. On the other hand, many people defended her, saying that education is the key to moving the country forward. On Saturday night, the actress rushed to Twitter to explain her remark, albeit she did not issue a formal apology.

Kajol, speaking to The Quint on women's empowerment in India, stated, "Change, especially in a country like India, is slow. It is very very slow. Because we are steeped in our traditions and steeped in our thought processes and, of course, it has to do with education. You have political leaders who do not have an educational system background. I'm sorry but I'm going to go out and say that. I'm being ruled by leaders, so many of them, who do not have that viewpoint, which I think education does give you, at least the chance to look out for a different viewpoint."

The ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ actress was subjected to vicious trolling when a video of her interview went viral.

The actress used Twitter to clarify her comments without directly apologising for it. Kajol wrote, "I was merely making a point about education and its importance. My intention was not to demean any political leaders, we have some great leaders who are guiding the country on the right path."

Meanwhile, ‘The Trial’, Kajol’s upcoming series on Disney+ Hotstar, is the official Hindi adaptation of the American legal drama series ‘The Good Wife’, which aired on CBS for seven seasons between 2009 and 2016.
