New Delhi: Bollywood actor John Abraham, who is famous for his strict diet and physical fitness, has spoken out against the promotion of pan masala goods. The 51-year-old actor appeared on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast on his YouTube channel where he shared his principles of not promoting “death” through Paan Masala ads.

John Abraham said that he does not approve of supporting anything that goes against it. He said, “If I say one thing and follow it in real life, then I am a role model. If I say one thing in front of you and do something else, someone will notice. On one side, we talk about fitness and, on the other side, we sell Paan Masala.”

Famous actors like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, and Shah Rukh Khan have discreetly marketed gutka and Paan Masala products. John made it clear that he isn’t ‘disrespecting’ any of these actors. He said, “I love all my actor friends. I am not criticising anyone. I am talking about myself. I will not sell death. It is a matter of principle.”

Additionally, John said that the pan masala business generates a revenue of Rs 45,000 crore per year. He said, “It means that the government also supports this. That’s why it is not illegal,”

John’s remarks have ignited a discussion over the moral obligations of celebrities in relation to endorsements.
