New Delhi: Imtiaz Ali has redefined romance and solidified the genre in the mainstream Hindi cinema space with films like 'Jab We Met', 'Rockstar' and 'Tamasha'. Not only have his films created polarizing views among audiences but also have started conversations about agency, manic pixie dream girl templates, female alter egos to male protagonists, creating fantastical characters who have no resemblance in reality.

In a recent interaction, when Imtiaz Ali was asked about three of his iconic films', he gave interesting answers that have stirred up conversation about the same on the internet.

Geet and Aditya from Jab We Met

At the Expresso event by Indian Express, when the interviewer asked "Where would Geet and Aditya be today?", Imtiaz Ali remarked, "At a divorce lawyer's office."

Ali immortalised Geet and Aditya as the ideal couple for a long time in Bollywood until several films changed the dynamics of relationship between the leading woman and man in Hindi films.

About Rockstar

Imtiaz Ali was also asked about the character of Jordan from his film 'Rockstar' which was played by Ranbir Kapoor. To which, the filmmaker shared, "I think he would have become a corrupt music industry head. Like he would have his own company and he would be completely fake and corrupt.”

About Tamasha

And, when Imtiaz Ali was asked about Tamasha's Ved and Tara, he shared that he would have liked them not to have ended up together. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone played Ved and Tara respectively.

Imtiaz told the same publication, "You know the ideal ending of Tamasha would have been if they hadn’t gotten together but he would have still idolized her as his muse. I wish that was the ending actually but that thought came a little late so in that scenario they would be separate and she would always be watching his shows but not telling him that she had come for it,” he said. But given how the film ended, Imtiaz said that “they would be doing shows together”.

Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ali's most recent release Amar Singh Chamkila starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra gathered a lot of appreciation upon its recent release on Netflix.
