New Delhi: Viral internet sensation Uorfi Javed has spoken out in favour of the protesting wrestlers in New Delhi, bringing up the widely shared edited picture of Sangeeta Phogat and Vinesh Phogat. Uorfi slammed those who use "lies" to smear another person's reputation. She published an original and edited image of the wrestlers on Sunday night. Sangeeta and Vinesh were both looking quite serious in the original shot.

Wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar on Sunday were arrested by Delhi Police as they attempted to march to the new Parliament. A morphed photo of Sangeeta and Vinesh Phogat smiling in the back of a police truck quickly went viral online.

A genuine and a modified version of the picture were posted on Twitter by Uorfi, who questioned why people would go to such measures to "prove their lies." She wrote, "Why do people edit photos like this to prove their lies? Kisi ko Galat thehrane ke liye itna nahi girna chahiye ki jhoot ka sahara liya jaaye (One should not take support of lies to prove the other person wrong)."

Day after the chaos that erupted during the detention of wrestlers while they were marching towards the new Parliament building, female grappler Sakshi Malik on Monday said Delhi Police dragged them to the buses though they didn't damage any public property at all. Meanwhile, a heavy police presence was seen along with barricades around Jantar Mantar on Monday where wrestlers had been protesting for over a month for the arrest of WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

After Delhi Police cleared the demarcated protest site on Sunday, they said that the protesting grapplers wouldn't be allowed to return, reported news agency ANI.
