New Delhi: Himesh Reshammiya's father and veteran music director Vipin Reshammiya has passed away. He was 87. Vipin Reshammiya breathed his last on September 18, 8:30 PM. He was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. He has been struggling with breathing issues and age-related problems.
A close friend of the Reshammiya family, Vanita Thapar, confirmed the news to ETimes, saying, "Yes, he had a breathing problem. He was in Kokilaben and passed away today at 8:30 PM.I am a family friend, more like family. I used to call him papa since the time he was making TV serials. Later, he became a music director, and then Himesh followed in his footsteps. We share a very close bond. Anup Singh, the numerologist, and I were very close to him."
Vipin Reshammiya's last rites will be performed on September 19, in Juhu. His mortal remains will be brought home soon, where veterans and members of the entertainment industry will pay their last rites.
Besides being Himesh's father, Vipin was also his mentor. He would often emntion in his earlier interviews how prpud he was of his son's musical talent from a very young age, which led him to focus on teaching Himesh rather than becoming a music director himself.
Vipin had also composed music for one of Salman Khan's films, which was when Salman met Himesh for the first time, and was impressed by his music. This meeting led to Himesh composing music for Salman's film 'Pyar Kiya To Darma Kya', and Salman became a guiding figure for Himesh in his career.
When Vipen Reshammiya composed a song with Lata Mangeshkar & Kishore Kumar
In 2021, Himesh had once spoken about his father on Indian Idol 12. He shared a video of himself on Instagram where we see him talk about his father composing a song with late singers Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar which was never released. "My dad's composer Vipin Reshammiya had composed a beautiful track quite a few years back sung by the legendary Lataji and Kishore Kumar ji. Unfortunately, it couldn’t be released then." He had captioned the post.
"I feel that it’s one of the finest classic melodies of all time which should come out in the market for all music lovers and I will be bringing the song out in the market soon , my dad had composed it with a lot of love and I’m happy that this song will be coming out soon for all of you , give it all your love when it comes out amd you hear it ,we shot for the Kishore Kumar 100 songs special this week and the very talented singers of #indianidol sang beautifully like always lots of love," he added.
