New Delhi: Bollywood star Govinda recently spoke about an intense experience he had with the late actor Kader Khan on set. The duo have worked together in several films like 'Coolie No. 1', 'Dulhe Raja' and 'Hero No. 1' among other successful films. In an interview with the Bheeshm International podcast, Govinda said that the legendary comedy team, famous for their on-screen chemistry, had its share of disputes off-screen as well.
During the conversation, Govinda recounted an occasion when disagreements arose over something as little as lunch on set. He shared, “Main subah 7 baje se shooting ke liye pahucha tha. Main baitha hu, intezar kar raha hu, 12 baj ke 10-minute par shot lagaya hai. Toh main khana order kar dia. (I reached the set at 7 am. I was sitting and waiting since morning, but the crew set up my shot only at 12:10 pm. So, I ordered lunch.)”
The actor finally chose to eat after what seemed like an eternity, much to the disapproval of his co-star Kader Khan.
Kader Khan's Anger and Govinda's Response
When Kader Khan questioned the time of his lunch, Govinda stated that he had been waiting all morning and was hungry. He even asked Khan to join him for lunch, which sparked a fight. The chat immediately turned into an altercation, with Khan reportedly abusing Govinda.
"Aren’t you afraid of anyone?" Khan asked, to which Govinda replied, "I am not afraid of anyone, except God."
Kader Khan, who had previously been sympathetic and polite to Govinda, exploded into a bunch of harsh remarks, as Govinda continued to detail. “Toh bahut gali-vali diye mujhe. Aise kabhi dete nahi the. Mujhe bahut prem karte the. Mujh par unki bahut kripa rahi. (He abused me a lot. He would not usually. I owe him a lot), the actor said.
