Govinda's relationship dynamics with wife Sunita Ahuja
When asked about her perspective on Govinda working with female co-stars, Sunita explained that their relationship doesn’t follow the usual “husband and wife” dynamic. She remarked, “Aaj tak bhi nhi lagta ki hum husband-wife hai. (Even today, I don’t feel that we’re man and wife.)” Describing their playful rapport, she said, “Galiya galoch chalti hai humari. (We use abusive language with each other).” She even joked about her disbelief, saying, “Mujhey aaj tak vishwaas nhi hora tu mera pati hai. (I still can’t believe you’re my husband).”
Sunita also recounted a story from their early days, when she transitioned from wearing miniskirts to sarees to respect Govinda’s mother’s preferences. Speaking on the Time Out with Ankit podcast, she recalled Govinda advising her, “Meri maa ko nahin jamega…Maine bola theek hai saree pehen lete hain ki farak padega. By hook or by crook patana to tha. (He said my mother won’t approve. I agreed to wear sarees because it didn’t matter—I had to woo him at any cost).”
Known for her lively personality, Sunita is not just a supportive wife but also a cool mom to their children, Yashvardhan and Tina.
On the professional front, Govinda, a Bollywood icon of the 1990s with hits like Hero No. 1 and Coolie No. 1, was last seen in the comedy Rangeela Raja. Fans eagerly await his return to the silver screen, hoping for more of his signature charm and humour.
