New Delhi: The Gaza-Israel conflict has escalated after the Gaza-based terror group Hamas launched a surprise offensive against Israel. Actress Gauhar Khan has reacted to the escalating tensions.

The actress took to her X, formerly called Twitter on Sunday and shared her stance as she wrote: “Since when did the oppressor become the oppressed?? Convenient eyesight of the world!! Blind to years n years of history of oppression (sic).”

She also reshared a post by an author which explains the history of the occupation of Palestine by Israel. It reads as, "The whirlpool of violence in which Israel and Palestine are caught is not so simple. When the Jews, troubled by Hitler's terror, started settling in Israel, they did to the Palestinians living there the same thing that Hitler had done to them. Villages after villages were destroyed, thousands of people were brutally murdered and all this continues even today. The entire western world is complicit in this sin. Israel continued to swallow Palestine like a monster with the help of weapons and the support of the West. Non-violent movements were brutally crushed. Yasser Arafat remained a courtier all his life. The result was that the leadership came into the hands of the barbaric Hamas. Violence and violence…this became the reality of that area. Gandhiji had said that to maintain a system built on violence, more violence is needed."

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which started in the mid-20th century is an ongoing military and political conflict in the Levant. Despite various attempts made to resolve the conflict as part of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, alongside other efforts to resolve the broader Arab-Israeli conflict, it is one of the world's longest continuing conflicts.
