Famous folk singer Shardha Sinha is currently on oxygen support following health complications related to cancer, according to officials from AIIMS. The 72-year-old has been undergoing treatment at the hospital's oncology department. The veteran singer was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of cancer that affects the bone marrow, in 2017.
Sinha is now in the ICU of the Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital (IRCH), part of AIIMS. Dr. Rima Dada, the professor overseeing the AIIMS media cell, reported that while Sinha is hemodynamically stable, she requires ongoing monitoring.
This news comes shortly after the singer lost her husband, Braj Kishore Sinha, due to a brain hemorrhage from a fall.
The two had celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda had visited AIIMS last night to check on Ms Sinha's condition, an NDTV report stated. The minister is said to have spoken to Miss Sinha's son Anshuman. He also spoke to the senior health officials and asked them to give the best possible treatment.
