New Delhi: A shocking incident occurred in Usiampatti, Madurai, leaving onlookers stunned. While the filmmaker and his family were in Chennai, Manikandan, the director of critically acclaimed films like Kaaka Muttai and Kadaisi Vivasayi, had his house broken into. Following the robbers' theft of gold jewellery, money, and other valuables, Manikandan reported the incident to the Usilampatti Police.


The fact that the robbers returned the director's National Award and an apologetic message a few days later added to the drama surrounding the affair. His National Award medals were found in a polythene bag that the family found hanging on the wall of their compound. The thieves included an apology note with it. The note read, “We are sorry, brother. Your hard work is yours.”


Although the medals have been returned, the family is nevertheless unsatisfied as the cash and gold jewels that were stolen are still missing.

Manikandan and his family live in Chennai, with their pet dog that lives with them in Usilampatti and is looked after by his friends. When his pals arrived to feed the dog, they discovered the heist.

Manikandan has had an amazing journey in film. With Kaaka Muttai, he made his feature film debut and was awarded the National Film Award for Best Children's Film. His reputation as a talented director was further confirmed by later productions such as Kuttrame Thandanai and Aandavan Kattalai. Vijay Sethupathi is the star of his most recent project, a web series for Disney Plus Hotstar.


The director and his family are in shock over the occurrence, and the police are still looking for the stolen goods and trying to apprehend those who did it.
