A complaint has been filed against YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina, and the organisers of the show India’s Got Latent. The complaint, submitted to the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, alleges the use of abusive language on the show and calls for strict action against the accused.
CM Fadnavis on Ranveer Allahabadia controversy
Addressing the controversy, CM Fadnavis commented on Ranveer Allahabadia’s involvement, stating, "I have come to know about this, although I haven't seen it myself. I have heard that things were conducted in an obscene manner, which is completely wrong. Freedom of speech is for everyone, but our freedom ends when we encroach upon someone else's freedom. This is not right; everyone has their own limits. We have also set rules against obscenity, and if anyone crosses those limits, action will be taken against them."
Ranveer Allahabadia controversy
The controversy began when popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia asked a highly inappropriate question about parental intimacy to a contestant, sparking massive outrage on social media. In a recent episode featuring YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani and content creator Apoorva Mukhija, known as The Rebel Kid, among others, Allahbadia posed the question:
"Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life — or would you join in once and stop it forever?"
The question was met with immediate backlash from viewers, who criticised it as crude and inappropriate. While Samay Raina and the rest of the panel laughed at the remark, many found the so-called ‘joke’ distasteful.
On Sunday, a clip from Samay’s show went viral on social media, leading to widespread criticism. From audiences labeling Allahbadia a ‘pervert’ to condemning the normalisation of ‘dark humor,’ there have also been increasing calls for stricter content regulation on such shows.
