New Delhi: A woman named Aparna Thakur from Lucknow has levelled serious allegations against BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan. At a press conference held in Lucknow, Aparna claimed that she was Ravi Kishan's "second wife", and that they have a daughter who the actor-turned-politician had not accepted socially and publicly. According to her, she met Ravi Kishan in 1995.
Shenova was present at the press conference where Aparna Thakur addressed journalists, demanding "justice" for her daughter. She said Ravi married her in 1996 in Mumbai's Malad by applying sindoor on her in the presence of his family and friends.
Ravi Kishan, the Gorakhpur MP who is contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the same seat, has not yet issued any statement on the allegation. Quoting his "representative", a PTI report said he was out of town and would himself tell the media what he has to say. His wife Preeti Shukla, however, has filed an FIR against Aparna, and alleged that a leader from the Samajwadi Party was behind this. Preeti said she had lodged a complaint against Aparna with the Mumbai Police last year also for "blackmailing".
Ravi Kishan has been married to Preeti Shukla since 1993, and they have three daughters and a son.
During the press conference, Aparna said Ravi had treated her and Shenova as his wife and daughter when he is with them, but does not acknowledge them socially or legally.
"I will approach the court as well over this. I want him to accept his daughter and give her the legal rights that she deserves," she said.
She alleged that Ravi Kishan used to maintain contact earlier, has not been in touch for some time.
Shenova too had a video message to share on social media. Addressing Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, she requested his time for a meeting so she and her mother could meet and show him "proof" of their "truth".
