New Delhi: Rapper-singer Badshah recently opened up about his band Mafia Mundeer, which also included Honey Singh, Raftaar, Ikka and Lil’ Golu. Badshah shared about Honey becoming self-centered and focusing on his individual career and neglecting the other members of the band.

On Raj Shamani’s podcast, Badshah spoke about his band Mafia Mundeer which was started by Honey Singh and him. “Mafia Mundeer was a thought, and  like-minded people got together. Primarily it was just me and Honey. In 2009, there was a break between me and Honey. I used to do a job and I was very scared. Honey was also off my radar and when I tried calling him, he dodged my calls. But till the time we were in Mafia Mundeer, we never met. If we had met, maybe things would have been different,” he said in the podcast.

Badshah then went on to say that eventually Honey Singh became self-centered and started focusing on his solo career.

“We made songs but they were not released. Honey was just concentrating on his career. I was associated with Mafia Mundeer since 2006, and by 2009, my parents were very worried about me. In 2011, my first song with Honey came out– ‘Get up Jawani’. We are also creating so many songs, please consider us as well. We have left everything behind and come here. You (Honey) should not be so self-centered. On one hand, you (Honey Singh) call us brothers, but on the other, you fail to acknowledge our struggles. He made us sign blank papers; what about those contracts? It was a tough phase.”

Honey Singh had also spoken about his equation with Badshah and said that they were never friends. During one of his songs promotions, Honey Singh had told the media, “We have worked a lot together. I was working on his first album as a music producer, which was left in between, but we were never friends; there was a bother hood. So, we cannot say there was friendship earlier, or whether it will be a friendship now. There was love earlier also and now as well. We don’t work together now and don’t get time to meet as well.”

The band eventually broke up in 2012.
