New Delhi: Alia Bhatt is enjoying her reign as Bollywood's most prominent actress. She got a National Award for her role in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, after the success of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ at the box office. She recently made an appearance at a leadership event, days after getting the coveted award, where she discussed numerous topics, including battling criticism. Both Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor have been targets of online trolling on many occasions.

Recently, when a Vogue video starring Alia went viral, internet haters began harassing her husband, Ranbir Kapoor. Alia joked in the video that Ranbir, who loved her lips without lipstick, would ask her to take it off. This innocent phrase ignited a flood of criticism over their connection. Alia discussed her experiences with online bullies in a recent interview.

The actress stunned at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, when she was questioned about the persistent trolling and tremendous response she has seen on social media. The actress answered, “I have lived my life in the public eye. Initially, I was a little defensive and then I was dismissive. But now, I have grown into a person who thinks that I have nothing to complain about.”

She continued by saying that she doesn't always like reading the negative comments made about her and her partner, but that she will never pick a battle with her fans since they are the ones who pay to see her films. She said, "The position I am in, it doesn’t look nice when I say, ‘Oh, I don’t like what people are saying.’ So, even though sometimes, you don’t want to read nasty things about you, your family or your relationship, but I am not going to fight with my audience. Those people who are writing these things are my audience.”

Meanwhile, Alia and Kareena Kapoor Khan will shortly appear in the eighth season of Koffee With Karan.
