New Delhi: There was a surge of nostalgia among fans when Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan finally reunited on film after 33 years in ‘Vettaiyan’. The film's most famous sequence was the fierce confrontation between Rajinikanth, who played a courageous police officer, and Amitabh Bachchan, who played a justice-seeking lawyer. But one actor who was there at the scene's actual location had an interesting takeaway.

The veteran actor Alencier Leyons discussed his time on the set of ‘Vettaiyan’ with the media while promoting his Malayalam flick ‘Narayaneente Moonnaanmakkal’. Alencier said that he got the opportunity to sit across from Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan in a courtroom scene as a judge. "During my pre-degree days, I have seen Rajini sir stopping the whirring blades of a helicopter with his bare teeth. So, I wanted to see how he acts in front of the camera. During the Vettaiyan shoot, I saw him perform his stylised form of acting, his body language, and walking out of the courtroom. Then, Amitabh Bachchan would roar like a lion, and I have to act shocked after all this," he recalled.

Alencier's Shocking Revelation

But when he said, "I realised I couldn’t compete with them because I didn’t know enough stylised acting nor do I have a deep baritone,” his remarks took a negative turn.

He said, "I can only perform in realistic films by directors like Dileesh Pothan, Sharan Venugopal, and Rajeev Ravi. Also, I realised they cannot act.”

Alencier acknowledged that his remarks would make headlines and would put him out of business in Tamil films. He said, "Honestly, I just used the opportunity to see how they performed, and not for establishing a career in Tamil."

Actor Alencier Ley Lopez gained fame as Ittychan in the TV series 'Appan'. He also appeared in Christo Tomy's 'Ullozhukku'.
