Now, Vimal Zubaan Kesari's latest commercial debuted yesterday and it features Akshay Kumar. The footage of Akshay in the tobacco ad quickly spread over the internet. The fans get furious to see the actor working for a pan masala brand. It has now been confirmed by Akshay Kumar that this ad was shot in 2021. He said he was no longer receiving benefits from his former affiliation.
There was a lot of buzz online when Akshay Kumar's Vimal Ad aired yesterday on Star Sports. In the clip, the actor appeared with Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan and Soundarya Sharma.
For the unversed, In April 2022, after widespread criticism and pressure from his fans, Akshay resigned as the company's brand ambassador. Although it was well known, some news headlines twisted the news. When one of the celebrity news websites misrepresented the facts, Akshay slammed it.
Akshay Kumar wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account, “‘Returns’ as ambassador? Here’s some fact check for you. if by chance you are interested in things other than fake news. These ads were shot on 13th October, 2021. I have not had anything to do with the brand ever since I publicly announced the discontinuation of the endorsement. They can legally run the already shot ads till the end of next month. Chill and do some real news.”
Prior to this, Akshay had apologised to his many supporters. He said he was profoundly affected by their responses and emphasised that he had never and would never promote tobacco.
