Shrima Rai, Aishwarya Rai's sister-in-law, recently addressed online criticism directed at her after she shared a birthday gesture from Shweta Bachchan and her husband, Nikhil Nanda. Shrima, who celebrated her birthday on November 21, posted a picture of a bouquet of flowers sent by the couple on her Instagram Stories, expressing her gratitude for their kind gesture.
However, the post became a talking point among social media users, who criticised Shrima for sharing it amid ongoing rumours about Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s alleged marital discord.
What Shrima Roy wrote
Responding to the criticism, Shrima penned a note addressing the trolls and clarifying her position. She firmly denied relying on her family’s name to establish her career and highlighted her independent achievements.
“Facts: My birthday was November 21, and as usual, flowers were sent. I thank everyone with a shoutout. Before I became a blogger/content creator, I was a banker in Wealth Management for several years. I have also been a Gladrags Mrs. India Globe 2009. Post 2017, I transitioned into blogging. I have NEVER tried to open any business with anyone’s name," Shrima wrote in her statement.

Shrima on making her career on her own
She added, “I am clarifying things because these are facts. I have built an independent career as a content creator for years on my own, and as a woman, I find it in poor taste for anyone to try to tear that fact down. For this, my husband, mother-in-law, and parents can vouch for me. As a mother, it is extremely important to me that facts are clear when my name is involved.”
When a concerned follower commented, “Hope all ok?” Shrima responded, “Just clarifying some news that came out had some misinformation.”
Shrima is married to Aditya Rai, Aishwarya’s brother, and the couple celebrated their wedding anniversary earlier this year. She often shares glimpses of her life on social media, including moments with her mother-in-law, Brindya Rai.
