New Delhi: After Shah Rukh Khan posted a tweet over the inauguration of the new Parliament building on Sunday, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) said BJP leaders in Maharashtra will not call for a ban on the actor's films now since he has expressed happiness over the inauguration of the new Parliament building.
Reacting to Khan’s comment on the inauguration, the NCP’s national spokesperson Clyde Crasto tweeted, ”Now that Shah Rukh Khan has spoken in favour of the New Parliament building, we will soon see @BJP4Maharashtra leaders genuflecting in front of him and not calling for a ban on his films.”
It is to be noted that Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ saw widespread protests by the right-wing outfits, who called for a ban on the film.
SRK posted a tweet with a video of his voice over the inauguration of the new Parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“What a magnificent new home for the people who uphold our Constitution, represent every citizen of this great Nation and protect the diversity of her one People @narendramodi ji. A new Parliament building for a New India but with the age-old dream of Glory for India. Jai Hind! #MyParliamentMyPride,” Khan tweeted.
The parliament is to the nation what soul is to the body, the 57-year-old actor said in the clip.
"My sincere prayers that the soul of democracy remains robust in its new home and continues to foster liberty, fraternity and equality for ages to come. May this new abode of democracy build a new age that is renowned for its scientific temper and empathy for all. A new parliament for a new India but with the same age old dream -- the glory of India, of our nation. Jai Hind!" SRK said.
Apart from SRK, Akshay Kumar also shared the video with a personalised voiceover.
"Proud to see this glorious new building of the Parliament. May this forever be an iconic symbol of India’s growth story. #MyParliamentMyPride" he tweeted.
