New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate has summoned actors Huma Qureshi and Hina Khan as well as comedian Kapil Sharma in connection with its probe into a case involving online betting. The news comes after reports stated that numerous celebrities are under inquiry by the ED in relation to the Mahadev money laundering case.
For allegedly promoting the app, the investigation agency summoned Huma Qureshi and Hina Khan. Kapil Sharma is also charged for attending the Mahadev Book app's celebration party in Dubai in September. According to a News18 report, actor Hina Khan has also been summoned for the same reason.
“ED has summoned comedian Kapil Sharma and actor Huma Qureshi in connection with the Mahadev betting app case: ED Sources,” news agency ANI tweeted.
According to India Today, on Thursday, Ranbir Kapoor, who had been served with a summon by the Enforcement Directorate in the same case, asked the federal investigation agency for more time to make a personal appearance. The Enforcement Directorate is still deciding whether to give the actor two weeks. As per News18 report, the agency asked that the actor show up in their Raipur, Chhattisgarh, office on October 6.
“Ranbir Kapoor has been summoned to understand the betting business transactions. At this point, he has not been summoned as accused. His questioning is important to know his knowledge about the money sources he received. It will possibly indicate the plans of the promoters and their association," an ED source was quoted in the mentioned report.
The investigating agency is currently looking into a number of prominent Bollywood celebrities and singers in connection with the ongoing probe into the Mahadev online betting case.
The Mahadev app allowed to bet illegally on an array of online games, including badminton, tennis, football, cricket, and card games.
