Mohini Dey also announces separation from her husband
Just hours after Rahman’s announcement, bassist Mohini Dey, who has performed with Rahman in numerous international shows, shared that she and her husband, composer Mark Hartsuch, were also separating. The couple, who had been married for several years, posted a joint message on Instagram, confirming that they had reached a mutual decision to end their marriage.
“With a heavy heart, Mark and I announce that we have separated,” Mohini wrote. “First, as a commitment to our friends and family, this is a mutual understanding between us. While we remain great friends, we both have decided that we want different things in life and separation through mutual agreement was the best way to proceed.” The couple also reassured their fans that they would continue their musical collaboration through projects such as MaMoGi and the Mohini Dey groups.
“We have always prided ourselves on working well together and that will not be stopping any time soon,” she added.
Mohini, a renowned bass player from Kolkata, is known for her work with the ensemble Gaan Bangla's Wind of Change and her debut album, released in August 2023. She has collaborated with Rahman in more than 40 shows across the globe.
She also asked for privacy and understanding from her followers, stressing the importance of respect and positivity during this time. “We would appreciate no judgments,” she concluded, thanking everyone for their continued support.

In a statement released through their representatives, the couple explained that the decision came after enduring years of emotional strain.
