ABP The Southern Rising Summit: Khushboo Sundar, actor, film producer, TV presenter, BJP party member, was a guest speaker at ABP Network's first 'The Southern Rising Summit' in Chennai on Thursday, October 12. The veteran actor spoke about her always speaking her mind, being a fan of Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, and having no regrets in life. The round was moderated by journalist Radhika Bajaj.


Asked about taking a stand in rather uncomfortable situation of life and opening about sexual harassment in her own home, Khushboo said she has always spoken her mind. 


She said she had always been a strong person and on numerous occasions, like the aforementioned circumstances, has take a stand.


At one time, the actor-producer recalled, she was walking with her mother and aunt in Chennai, and a man literally walked into them and brushed past them. The actor-politician said she chased the man who was left with a broken nose.


She recalled another moment during an election rally in Bangalore when she felt someone slide his hand at her waist. Instead of freezing, she turned around and slapped him.


Khushboo also shared that though it is usually seen that you are mostly alone when taking a stand, she is not afraid of speaking her mind whether or not she is politically correct. 


She added: "We live in a society that is not opinionated but judgmental and I am not here to please anyone.I do what I have to always speak my mind without fear and I don't expect others to come and stand for me."


She also spoke about the incident of sexual harassment in the confines of her own home, and speaking about it in front of students in Jaipur as a member of the National Commission for Women. She said "this did not come as a rude shock to my family, everyone knew about it", but when she opened up about it she felt light and unburdened. She slept "like a log after a very long time".


"Gone are the days when there was a stigma attached to talking about sexual harassment," Khushboo said, adding: "After all, it is not us to take the blame."
