Abhishek Bachchan's 'I Want To Talk' has been released in theatres. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the film is receiving a positive response from audiences. While Shoojit has worked quite often with veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, the filmmaker shared that Big B's son is nothing like his father. In fact, his acting style closely mirrors that of his mother, Jaya Bachchan.

Abhishek Bachchan is more like his mother, Jaya

In an interview with India Today, Shoojit shared that while many compare Abhishek to his father, he noticed how the former was quite similar to his mother, Jaya Bachchan, especially his eyes, mannerisms and way of speaking. He also added that he had seen a purity in Jaya Bachchan's roles in films like 'Mahanagar' and 'Abimaan', and that was also evident in Abhishek.

He told the publication, “Everyone talks about how much he is like his father, but I saw a lot of Jaya di, especially in his eyes, his mannerisms, and just the way he talks. We have seen Jaya di in films like Mahanagar or Abhimaan... how pure she was. I saw that same purity in Abhishek. His eyes spoke to me."

Abhishek-Amitabh's acting process

Talking about the different process of acting for both of them, Shoojit shed light on their working process. He said, "With Bachchan sir, he likes to rehearse a lot, for hours. But Abhishek likes to hang around on set, grasp everything, and go over the script repeatedly. For this film, however, he was so simple and disciplined. He surrendered himself completely to becoming Arjun. You won’t see anything else in the film. Even on set, he was the character."

Shoojit also added that Abhishek's personal life as a 'girl dad' also resonated with the film 'I Want To Talk'. He said, "He has a beautiful relationship with his daughter Aaradhya, and I think that connected him to the story.”

Speaking about Abhishek's commitment for the role, Shoojit said, "He really bared himself for this film. He even showed me his physique and said he could eat more if I needed him to have a bigger paunch. What you see on the poster is all real.”

Meanwhile, ‘I Want To Talk’ was released in theatres on Friday, November 22, 2024.
