A recent interview with singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has gone viral on social media, where he indirectly referred to Salman Khan as an alcoholic. Taking a dig at the Bollywood superstar, Abhijeet remarked that Salman isn’t worth discussing.
Abhijeet Bhattacharya calls Salman Khan 'daarubaaz; and 'tharki'
Addressing his earlier comments on Salman Khan’s hit-and-run case, Abhijeet clarified that he never supported the actor.
During Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Abhijeet was asked about Salman Khan, to which he dismissively responded, “Salman Khan abhi bhi un mein nahi aata jahaan pe main uske baare mein charcha karu (Salman Khan is still not at a level where he is worth talking about).”
He then urged the interviewer to change the topic. Abhijeet further stated that Shah Rukh Khan belongs to a “different class” and that his differences with SRK are strictly professional.
When questioned about his past remarks and alleged support for Salman Khan during the hit-and-run case, Abhijeet strongly denied the claims, explaining that he never backed the actor.
He said, “Usko support kiya tha? Kabhi nahi. Maine ye kaha tha ki road pe soyenge…uske pehle bhi news me dekhiye ek truck rondke chala gaya 4 logon ko. Ye roz ho raha hai. Road pe aadmi so raha hai, footpath pe bhi nahi. Maine kaha road pe soyenge to ek daarubaaz aayega daaru peeke. Gaadi chadha dega tumhaare upar. Road par kutte ki tarah so rahe ho. To ek daarubaaz aayega, ek tharki, ab aap kyu mujhse wo karwa rahe ho (I have never supported him. I said that if you sleep on the road, a drunk driver might hit you. Before that, you’ve seen reports of trucks running over people. People sleep on roads, even footpaths aren’t safe. I was talking about this – if you sleep on the road, someone might hit you. Why should I be involved in this?).”
Abhijeet on singing songs for Salman
When asked why he sang songs like “Tan Tana Tan Tan” and “Chunari” for Salman Khan, Abhijeet explained that he never inquires about the actor for whom he is singing.
He said, “Kal ko aapki picture banegi, koi bolega ki aap gaana gaao. Main gaana gaa ke aajaunga. Mujhe kya maalum aapke liye gaa raha hu? (Tomorrow, you will make a film and ask me to sing. I will do my job and return. How will I know who I am singing for?).”
