New Delhi: Karan Johar's long-awaited romantic comedy, 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' is set to hit theatres on Friday, July 28. The Central Board of picture Certification (CBFC) has given the Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer a U/A certificate ahead of its release, but only after requesting some cuts and adjustments.

Here are certain cuts and alterations in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani enforced by the CBFC before issuing it a U/A certificate.

  • The cussword 'b*******d' which has been used in multiple scenes has been replaced by 'behen di'.

  • 'Bra' has been changed to 'item'.

  • The popular rum brand Old Monk has been replaced by 'Bold Monk.'

  • Three dialogues were completely chopped off from the film, including a reference to Lok Sabha and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee each.

Reportedly, the movie also features a scene in the lingerie shop. The Censor Board reportedly termed a dialogue in the scene as ‘degrading women’ and asked for it to be removed.

Additionally, an alteration has also been made to the Rabindranth Tagore scene, that grabbed everyone's attention in the trailer.

Following these modifications, the CBFC issued the certificate on Wednesday, July 19. The official run time of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is 168 minutes, equivalent to 2 hours and 48 minutes.

In the trailer it can be seen that Rocky (Ranveer Singh) is a loud and flamboyant Punjabi boy who falls in love with a well-educated and attractive Rani (Alia Bhatt), which was released earlier this month. Because they come from different backgrounds, the couple decides to live with each other's families before getting married. While Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt play the lead characters, Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan play Ranveer's Punjabi parents, and Shabana Azmi plays a member of Alia's family.

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt are currently promoting the film in full swing, visiting different cities and interacting with fans. 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' marks the second collaboration of Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh after 'Gully Boy'. The film is also special as it is Johar's first film after 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' in 2016. Produced by Dharma Productions.
