New Delhi: The Cannes Film Festival 2022 has begun. India as the spotlight country and Indian celebs are having a moment at the prestigious film festival that is also celebrating its 75th year. Coincidently, India is also celebrating its 75th year from colonial independence. Deepika Padukone, who is part of the Cannes jury, shared some thoughts on India.


At the inauguration of India Pavilion, Deepika spoke about Indian talent and how people like her are able to represent India today because of the contributions of legends like music composer AR Rahman and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur.

The 'Gehraiyaan' actress also spoke about a time when India won't have to be at Cannes, but Cannes will be in India. "India is at the cusp of greatness, this is just the beginning...there will come a day I truly believe where India won't have to be at Cannes, but Cannes will be in India," says Deepika Padukone at the inauguration of India Pavilion at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.

Besides Deepika, Indian celebrities like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Urvashi Rautela, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, AR Rahman,and Hina Khan among others will be present at the 75th edition of Cannes Film Festival.


Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray's 'Pratidwandi' will also be screened at the Cannes Film Festival on May 19 besides other Indian films having their trailer or poster launch.


Fans and people from across India are excited to see the developments that happen around Indian film space at the Cannes.
