New Delhi: BTS' vocalist Jungkook has made history by being a non-footballer to appear on the list of the "top 10 people mentioned on social media" in the run-up to the FIFA World Cup 2022. The youngest member of the Korean band has earned a place among well-known football stars.

On Tuesday, NetBase Quid posted a list of the "top 10 people mentioned on social media," with Jungkook coming in at number four.

According to the list, Kylian Mbappe came in third, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi at the top. Jungkook came in at number four, followed by Neymar at number five. The sixth slot on the list has been secured by Qatari vocalist Fahad Al Kubaisi. At the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar, he and Jungkook gave a rendition of the World Cup anthem Dreamers as part of the opening ceremony.

"Using our #SocialListening solution, these are the top 10 people mentioned around the #WorldCup this year," NetBase Quid wrote with the post while sharing the list.

The official World Cup anthem was performed by the k-pop idol, Jungkook, who made history as the first Asian to ever do so. His performance was lauded for being respectful on social media platforms all around the world because it paid homage to earlier anthems sung by other artists.

On the other hand, BTS' eldest member Jin enlisted in the military earlier this month on December 13. Soon, other BTS members who will follow Jin will join the 18-month service. Depending on when each member completes their military service, BTS is anticipated to come back fully around 2025.
