New Delhi: The Met Gala 2023 has been trending days before the actual event takes place on May 1. It is the most prominent fashion event in the world and is also the most eagerly anticipated one. This year's Costume Institute exhibition, 'Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty', will celebrate the full work and life of Karl Lagerfeld. As fans trend the grand fashion extravaganza on social media, their biggest cause of disappointment is the news that actor Blake Lively will not be attending.

Despite being in New York, Blake confirmed that she will be skipping the Met Gala on Monday. The star told People that she will be watching the event. Blake was at the reopening of the Tiffany & Co. Fifth Avenue store in NYC on Thursday when she confirmed this.

At the same Tiffany event, when reporters complimented Blake's 2022 Met Gala look, she joked, "Thank you, that’s very sweet. I’ll be wearing that on my couch on Monday.

Meanwhile, Blake and her husband Ryan Reynolds welcomed their fourth child this year and they have been quite busy. Last year, Blake wore a Versace gown that references the Statue of Liberty for the theme 'In America: An Anthology of Fashion'. Her train even had the iconic constellation ceiling from Grand Central Station.

On the other hand, Twitter is also abuzz with rumours around who's attending and not invited to the Met Gala 2023. Fans have been expressing their disappointment around Blake's absence, reports about Vanessa Hudgens not attending and anticipating Korean band 'Blackpink' being invited to the event.

Some have been revisiting iconic Met Gala looks of all time like that of Rihanna in 2015 which was named by Vogue as the best Met Gala look of all time or that of Cher in 1974 or that of Lady Gaga's 16-minute entrance.
