New Delhi: Ajay Devgn has consistently delivered excellent performances in films, demonstrating his talent as an actor. He has appeared in over a hundred Bollywood films, playing a variety of comedic, heroic, and dramatic characters. It is quite obvious that Ajay Devgn is highly picky when it comes to doing movies. Like any actor, he's made his fair share of decisions—some good, some bad.

On his 54th birthday today, let’s look at box office hits that he rejected:

Bajirao Mastani

Ajay once revealed in an interview that he had been offered Ranveer Singh's part but had to turn it down since it conflicted with his home production of Shivaay. It was also said that Ajay had asked for an exorbitant sum of money, which was out of the producer’s price range. Ajay declined the role, and Ranveer Singh, who played the part, was a fantastic fit.

Darr

Ajay was first approached to be in this iconic film. But at that point in his career, the actor wasn't interested in playing a bad guy. As Devgn turned down the role and Shah Rukh Khan took it.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Many people, particularly those born in the 1990s, consider ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ to be SRK's finest film. But, Ajay Devgn was the original choice for the main part in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukherjee. The actor turned it down for personal reasons. Later, the film became a critical and commercial success.

Karan Arjun

Recently during a reality show, director Rakesh Roshan spoke about his 1995 film ‘Karan Arjun’. He revealed that Ajay Devgn was the first choice for Karan’s role. Later, Salman Khan was cast instead of Ajay Devgn.

Padmaavat

The epic drama directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was a commercial success. But did you know that Ajay Devgn was the first choice for the legendary role of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh? Ajay reportedly turned down the offer of playing the role which was later played by Shahid Kapoor. According to reports, Ajay had to reject the role due to date conflicts.

Currently, Ajay is riding high on his latest action thriller 'Bholaa'.
