'Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai' and 'Jab We Met' fame Saumya Tandon to essay a Bollywood Diva in her upcoming dramedy film titled 'Radio Ghaint, helmed by 'Aafat-e-Ishq' fame director Indrajit Nattoji. Nattoji's 'Radio Ghaint' is the first film from a series of featurettes showcasing idiosyncratic and women-centric tales from small-town India. Filming for the movie concluded in Vadodara, Ahmedabad, on December 28 last year.
Sharing what prompted her to take the role, Saumya stated, "Radio Ghaint captured my attention for three key reasons. Firstly, its featurette format, falling between the brevity of a short film and the length of a feature, presents an intriguing and promising avenue for future storytelling. I foresee this medium gaining significant popularity in the years to come."
"Secondly, the script's witty, humorous, well-structured writing and playful wackiness thoroughly charmed me. Finally, the opportunity to collaborate with director Indrajit Nattoji has long been a personal aspiration. His exceptional visual imagination and artistic sensibility are genuinely awe-inspiring," she went on to say.
Shredding light on her character, she added, "The characters are all incredibly well-developed, each brimming with life. I play an eccentric Bollywood diva from the fictional Punjabi town of LUVdhiana. To breathe life into this character through a live radio play was an absolutely enthralling experience."
Talking about the project, Nattoji mentioned, "Radio Ghaint is an absurdist dramedy set in a fictitious Punjab small-town named LUVdhiana, where a struggling radio station faces closure until the optimistic owner gambles on a live radio drama, setting the stage for chaotic, genre-blending excitement."
Produced by I.N.K. Pictures L.L.P., in association with GreyOwl Barnstorm Pvt Ltd. and co-produced by Kinetigra Medias & Productions Pvt Ltd, the film includes an ensemble cast of Pramarth Pandit, Leena Sharma, Rajendra Bhatia, Dharmendra Thakur, Sarthak Bhatia, Trilok Ji, Rajendra Samata, Gaurav Sikri, Nischay Rana and Krina Pathak.
