New Delhi: The worldwide success of SS Rajamouli's newest historical action film ‘RRR’ shows no signs of slowing down. Adding to his recent string of successes, S. Rajamouli took up the New York Film Critics Circle's Best Director award for his work in ‘RRR’.
Ramesh Bala, a renowned trade expert, tweeted the news, saying, "Dir @ssrajamouli wins Best Director for #RRR at the New York Critics Circle awards. Big honor. Congratulations."
The New York Film Critics Circle Awards are highly esteemed since they are decided by a panel of respected Hollywood film critics. Members of the New York Film Critics Circle have worked for newspapers, periodicals, and even websites since the group's establishment in 1935. In early January, the organisation will host a dinner where awards will be presented.
'RRR', which earned over ₹1000 crore in global box office revenue during its theatrical run, was recently screened at the TCL Chinese Theatre and garnered a roaring reception from the crowd.
‘RRR’ has got global acclaim with many big-league directors and film technicians rallying support for the film. Ram Charan and Jr. NTR starrer also won the Hollywood Critics Association Award as the Second Best Picture of the year. Variety.com had also mentioned the film as a possible contender at the Oscars and had also mentioned Jr. NTR in the list.
Based on the lives of two real heroes and well-known revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, 'RRR' is a fictional story that takes place in the pre-independence era of the 1920s. Jr. NTR portrayed Bheem in the movie, and Ram Charan played Ram.
