New Delhi: As James Cameron's 'Avatar' re-released in theatres across the world on Friday, September 23, fans and audiences are in awe of the remastered footage in 4K, high dynamic range and 9.1 besides the long post-credits scene which has also been garnering appreciation. Fans and audiences have taken to social media platforms like Twitter to share their appreciation of the highest-grossing film of all time besides also sharing their anticipation of the sequel, 'Avatar: The Way Of Water'.

Interestingly, 'Avatar's re-release has generated a decent box-office response globally. In India alone, thanks to National Cinema Day on September 23, the reduced ticket prices saw a surge and tickets worth  ₹1 crore were sold in advance bookings alone. Trade analysts like Ramesh Bala have predicted 'Avatar' re-release as topping the international markets already. Analysts have also predicted that Avatar's re-release can have a Rs 5 crore collection during the weekend in India despite facing stiff competition from 'Brahmastra' which has also been selling house full shows, especially on National Cinema Day.

Worldwide, Avatar was released in five international markets on Thursday. 'Avatar' released in France, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Philippines and France on Thursday, and according to The Collider report, tickets worth $877k were sold in these markets.

According to a CNBC report, analysts from the US predict the film to make anywhere between $7 and $12 million in the North American market on Friday. Other trade sources say that it can earn around $15-20 million on its first day alone, including the markets in India.

Avatar is the highest-grossing film of all time with a worldwide box office gross of around $2.8 billion. It briefly lost the title to 'Avengers: Endgame' in 2021 but after it was redistributed in China later that year, the additional earnings pushed it back to the top. This third release again will cement its position on the scale.

Thur re-run months before the release of its long-awaited sequel 'Avatar: The Way of Water' has created much-anticipation among fans especially with the posts which have been circulating on Twitter.

Take a look.

The 'Avatar' sequel has also been directed by James Cameron and brings back most of the cast from the original film, besides also the additions of Kate Winslet and Michelle Yeoh. The second film is part of a five-part franchise and is also set to be released in theatres on December 16, 2022.
