New Delhi: Actor Anushka Sharma and cricketer Virat Kohli on Thursday announced their decision to merge their respective foundations, Anushka Sharma Foundation and Virat Kohli Foundation, and to launch their joint non-profit initiative SeVVA.

In a joint statement, the Bollywood star and Indian cricketer said the new initiative will help people in need and is not confined to any particular cause.

"In the words of Kahlil Gibran ‘For in truth it is life that gives unto life- while you, who deem yourself a giver, are but a witness’. With this sentiment in mind, we have decided to work together through SeVVA aiming to reach out to as many people as possible.

"SeVVA’s work won't be confined to a particular issue as it will continue to strive for social good by championing humanity which is the need of the hour today," the statement read.

The 34-year-old cricketer will continue to provide sports scholarships and sponsor athletes.

Sharma, 34, will continue to be involved with animal welfare as she has over the years.

“The two of them together through SeVVA will be on the lookout to aid areas of concern that benefits society at large,” the note read.

The couple, who tied the knot five years back on December 11, 2017, in Tuscany, has grown stronger with time and has given major relationship goals to people. Virat Kohli recently spoke about Anushka and said she has made 'massive sacrifices' as a mother in the last two years.

On the RCB podcast hosted by Danish Sait, Virat said,  "The way things have been in the past two years, we have had our child and, as a mother, the sacrifices she made have been massive. Looking at her, I realised whatever problems I had were nothing. As far as expectations are concerned, as long as your family loves you for who you are, you don’t expect much because that is the basic requirement.”

When asked about a life-changing moment, he said it was when he met his lady love. “When I met Anushka… Because I saw a different side of life. It wasn’t the same as my environment. It was a different perspective, a different point-of-view. When you fall in love, you start processing those changes within you, as well. Because you have to move together, and to do that you have to open yourself up, you have to accept a lot of things… You share ideas, you share perspectives, which I had never seen in my life,” he said during the podcast.

Anushka and Virat welcomed their daughter Vamika in 2021.  Anushka, who took a break after Vamika was born, will be seen now in the sports drama ‘Chakda ‘Xpress’, in which she’ll play the Indian pace bowler Jhulan Goswami.
