New Delhi: Sonam Kapoor, often celebrated as one of Bollywood’s most stylish stars, has now given fans a whole new reason to admire her, this time for a heartfelt act of kindness. The actress recently parted with 12 inches of her famously long hair, choosing to donate it to charity.
Sonam Kapoor Chops Off Her Hair
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Sonam shared a video capturing the big chop moment inside a salon. Beaming with excitement, she can be seen getting ready for the transformation. “Hi everyone, so I decided to cut 12 inches of my hair,” she says, holding the trimmed strands. “It doesn’t seem like much on video, but it’s literally a foot of hair!”
Her caption, as playful as ever, read: “Decided to cut off 12 inches off my hair and give it away! @peteburkill thanks @anilskapoor for the genes.” Pete Burkill, her longtime hairstylist, handled the makeover with his signature finesse, leaving Sonam looking radiant and summer-ready.
In true Sonam style, she attributed her long, enviable tresses to good genetics, more specifically, her father. “My hair becomes really long because of my genetics… i.e. Anil Kapoor,” she quipped in the video, flashing a smile.
Sonam also revealed that the idea of donating her hair had been on her mind for a while. She finally decided to go through with it, aiming to make a small yet meaningful difference. And despite chopping off a full foot of hair, the actress’s locks still cascade beautifully.
In a world where image is everything, Sonam’s choice to use her influence for good, while still serving a statement look, shows that kindness never goes out of style.
