New Delhi: Anek, Ayushmann Khurrana's newest film, has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, however, the actor's performance has received rave reviews. Unfortunately, the film's performance at the box office was less than impressive. The premiere of the movie was met with a great deal of praise from the crowd, but the positive reception did not transfer into increased ticket sales.
The film did not get any traction on Saturday, which is critical for the film to survive over the weekdays. Ayushmann Khurrana's Anek brought in somewhere between Rs. 2-3 crore on Saturday, May 28, bringing the film's total revenue closer to Rs. 4 crores.
In comparison to Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, this is a pretty poor performance. The amount of money brought in by Anek is five to six times less than that of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. This week also saw the debut of the high-budget Hollywood picture Top Gun: Maverick, which is competing head-to-head with this movie.
Along with Badhaai Do and Dhaakad, Anek's openings in 2022 have been among the worst in the industry. However, there is a glimmer of hope due to the fact that it has done somewhat better than Dhaakad, which featured Kangana Ranaut.
The film Anek centres on conflicts in the North East, although some reviewers have said that the movie was unable to thoroughly dive into the political backdrop of the conflicts and instead stayed on the surface. As far as Ayushmann Khurrana films go, this is perhaps the lowest-grossing one.
T-Series and Benaras Mediaworks collaborated on the film Anek, which stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Andrea Kevichusa.
