New Delhi: The makers of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan-starrer ‘Jhund’ have finally locked the date for the film’s release. The biographical sports drama, directed by Nagraj Manjule, will hit the theatres on March 4.



‘Jhund’ was announced back in February 2019. It was supposed to be released in theatres on May 8, 2020, but got postponed owing to coronavirus. Its release on OTT platforms was also halted owing to copyright difficulties.


Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh took to Koo app, to announce the film's release date.







Amitabh Bachchan took to social media to announce the film’s release date. Sharing a poster of the film featuring himself, the actor wrote: "Iss toli se muqaabla karne ke liye raho taiyaar! Humari team aa rahi hai..."



Big B started shooting the film in December 2018. The superstar and director Nagraj Manjule are collaborating for the first time. Nagraj Manjule, the director of Sairat, is also making his Bollywood directorial debut with Jhund.


Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the movie has been subjected to delays for almost two years. The film is supposed to be based on the life of Vijay Barse, a retired sports instructor and the founder of the Nagpur-based NGO Slum Soccer.


Viewers are also waiting for Bachchan’s next film Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The movie is all set to be released in September this year.
