New Delhi: Bollywood playback Singer Alka Yagnik has become the most streamed artist on YouTube, surpassing international artists like BTS and Taylor Swift.

In 2021 and 2020 also the Bollywood singer had the highest number of streams, 17.7 billion and 16.6 billion respectively.
She is followed by Bad Bunny with 14.7 billion streams. The rest three on the list are all Indian singers: Udit Narayan (10.8 billion), Arijit Singh (10.7 billion), and Kumar Sanu (9.09 billion).
BTS and BLACKPINK have had 7.95 billion and 7.03 billion streams respectively. Taylor Swift is at number 26 with 4.44 billion streams and Drake is at position 50 with 2.9 billion.
Alka was the leading playback singer of the 90s and has given her voice to almost all the top actresses of that time. She has sung over 7,000 songs in various Indian languages and won numerous awards, including the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
She has given a number of hits such as 'Ghoongat Ki Aad Se' from 'Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke', 'Taal Se Taal' from 'Taal', 'O Re Chhori' from 'Lagaan' and many more.
Alka has spoken about playback singing in an earlier interview with Hindustan Times. “Playback singing is not as easy as it seems. You are singing for a character and your song should make it easy for the actor to emote and shouldn’t make it difficult for them. It is also a challenge for a playback singer to adapt to the different style of each composer. But then having achieved that, nothing compares to the happiness of a composer telling you that your singing perfectly adapts to their styles,” she told Hindustan Times.
She was last seen as a judge in the singing reality show 'Superstar Singer 2'.
