New Delhi: In the Marathi film ‘Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat,’ directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar will portray the title role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It'll be Akshay's first time acting in a Marathi film. The actor noted the gravity of his performance as the Maratha royal warrior.

Wednesday night at a spectacular ceremony in Mumbai, the actor said that portraying the Maratha warrior king is no small feat, but that he intends to do his very best.

The PTI news agency cited Akshay Kumar as saying, "It is a huge deal for me to play the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. To play the role of such a legendary personality is a huge responsibility. I am so happy about this. It is dream come true kind of a role. It is a huge task and I would like to say I will give my best."

Mahesh Manjeraker expressed his desire to collaborate with Akshay Kumar during the occasion. He said, "It was my wish to work with Akshay. And for this role I couldn't see any other actor but him. We wanted a certain personality and look and Akshay had the apt image to play a Hindu raja."

Produced by Vaseem Qureshi, ‘Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat’ will debut in theatres on Diwali 2023. Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu are the four regional languages in which it will be released.

When it comes to movie projects, Akshay Kumar is one of the select few who consistently has more than one in the works. He is also an advocate of making movies in a variety of styles. This year alone, for instance, he has been in a Cuttputlli, Bachhchan Paandey, Raksha Bandhan, Samrat Prithviraj and Ram Setu.
