New Delhi: Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn’s upcoming movie ‘Maidaan’ is a Hindi biographical sports-drama which is based on football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Based on the golden era of Indian football which spans from 195201962, the ‘Singham’ actor will be seen illustrating the role of the protagonist in ‘Maidaan’.

Earlier, ‘Maidaan’ was set for a theatrical release on December 11, 2020. But due to the nationwide lockdown and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the release of the movie was then pushed to August 13, 2021. Now, according to the latest update, the release date of ‘Maidaan’ has been further pushed to October 15, 2021, and the shooting of the film will kick-start from January 2021.

Ajay Devgn took to his social media to share the update. He wrote, "‘Maidaan’ now releases worldwide in theatres on Dussehra 2021. Shoot commences January 2021. #Maidaan2021"



The ‘Bhuj: The Pride Of India’ actor is currently busy shooting for his directorial movie ‘Mayday’ starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, Angira Dhar and himself. As Ajay does not want to compromise on any of his films, he decided to push back the release date of ‘Maidaan’ by two months. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Ajay is currently busy shooting for MayDay and will be completely occupied with the film’s shoot till February. Only after that would he be able to allot time to shoot Maidaan. Like MayDay, even Maidaan is a visual effects heavy film, and Ajay doesn’t want to compromise on any aspect of either of the two films and he has decided to push the film further by 2 months to October 15.”

Also, based on the report of the entertainment portal, 40% of ‘Maidaan’s’ shoot is still remaining and is expected to commence in Mumbai. The report further added that football stadiums will be recreated in Mumbai and some footballers of international repute will join the shoot of ‘Maidaan’.

Other than ‘Maidaan’, Ajay Devgn will also be seen starring in ‘Bhuj: The Pride Of India’. He will also be seen in a special appearance in SS Rajamouli's 'RRR'.
