New Delhi: Aishwarya Rai's daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, turned 11 today, and the actress sent over a special photo with birthday wishes. Aishwarya uploaded an Instagram snapshot of herself kissing Aaradhya. In the backdrop, a flower-decorated 11 stood out in the post.
The message from Aishwarya to her beloved daughter read, "MY LOVE... MY LIFE... I LOVE YOU, MY AARADHYA." Both Aishwarya and her daughter Aardhya looked lovely in the picture. The actor is clearly a devoted parent and devoted caregiver for her daughter, as evident in the picture.
However, many people on the internet found the image offensive. People felt that Aishwarya's liplock with her kid was unacceptable and horrible. Someone remarked, “Not Indian culture …shameful.” Another wrote, "Aishwarya ma'am, you don't need an attention by doing this. This is an odd content to get the publicity."
The Aishwarya Rai Bachchan fanbase, however, quickly responded. One supporter wrote, “Whats wrong with showing your kid affection? Beautiful pic, it's not her fault you've only ever seen people kiss in romantic context. Grandmothers kiss their grandkids on lips in many cultures. Change your mindset.” A fan also said, “She is a mother and she has the right to hug and kiss her daughter or son irrespective of their ages....And that's normal since ages.”
Most recently, Aishwarya was featured in ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’, a historical drama directed by Mani Ratnam that received overwhelmingly positive reviews. The actress's next project is the follow-up to Ponniyin Selvan.
She will also appear in the forthcoming action flick ‘Jailer’, starring Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishnan, Priyanka Arul Mohan, and Shiva Rajkumar. The film's official premiere date has not yet been announced.
