The entire world is expressing concern as shocking and devastating videos and pictures from Afghanistan are all over the internet ever since Taliban took over the country after 20 years. Amid all the tension, former 'Bigg Boss' contestant Arshi Khan, too has reacted to the news.
Arshi said that she is extremely disturbed with Taliban takeover of Kabul. The Bigg Boss 14 contestant said in a new interview that some of her friends and relatives are still in the country.
Opening up about her fears, the actress, speaking to an entertainment portal said, "I was born in Afghanistan and later migrated to India with my family. I am now worried about the female citizens of the county after Taliban's rule comes into force. I am Afghani Pathan. And It scares me and gives me goosebumps. I'm worried about the female citizens of the county. I was born there and the thought, if I was one among them, is actually making me scream out of fear."
Arshi and her family had shifted to Bhopal when she was four, she further added in her interview, "I am really hurt and I am unable to have my food properly. My family is praying to God to help them. We still have a few relatives and friends there. It's a bad time and we are helpless. Waiting for some miracle to happen."
Meanwhile, two days after taking over Afghanistan, the Taliban said in its first conference that Afghan women will be given freedom and will be able to work under 'Islamic laws' as it vowed to respect women's rights. However, the Taliban has now banned Afghanistan women news anchors and now many female journalists are jobless.
Women's rights were severely restricted during the Taliban's rule of Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001. They were banned from studying and working, kept hidden in their homes, and violently assaulted if they were seen in public with their faces uncovered.
