In South India, actor Suriya topped the list of celebrities among movie stars. Suriya came out on top among his peers in a research study by the Indian Institute of Human Brands (IIHB), earning the titles of Most Trusted, Most Attractive, Most Respected, and Most appealing celebrity.


A total of 5,246 respondents from the four southern states made up the sample size for the IIHB study. Six each from Tollywood, Kollywood, Mollywood, and Sandalwood have been covered by the report.


Suriya towered over the rest of the competition with a score of 84 in the overall TIARA rankings (Trust, Identify, Attractiveness, Respect, and Appeal). Allu Arjun ranked second with a score of 79.


On the parameter "Most Trusted," Suriya ranked the highest. Allu Arjun and Vijay Devarakonda led in Tollywood; Vijay and Sivakarthikeyan led in Kollywood, while Fahadh Faasil and Kiccha Sudeep ranked the highest in Mollywood and Sandalwood, respectively, the study added.

Suriya, with a score of 85, was ahead of Allu Arjun (80) and Vijay Devarakonda (72) in being South India’s Most Attractive. "Vijay was number 1 in Kollywood, while Dulquer Salmaan led in the balance of the two states," the research added. 


On the work front, actor Suriya is reportedly playing a double role in the upcoming movie tentatively titled 'Suriya 42' because it is the actor's 42nd film. Directed by Siruthai Siva, the fantasy-action movie also features Bollywood actress Disha Pattani in a leading role.


The first schedule of the shoot was completed in Goa and the crew has begun shooting in Chennai. Thereafter, they will move across Tamil Nadu. The shoot is on at a brisk pace and the movie is likely to be released also in the 3D format.


Sources in the industry told IANS that Suriya is playing a double role -- the two characters he plays live in the present and the past, respectively.
