New Delhi: S.S Rajamouli became a known name in Bollywood after the success of the Bahubali franchise. Known for his magnanimous sets and iconic cinematography, he has become the talk of the town again as he is back with another big-budget period drama ‘RRR’.
Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ features megastars Ram Charan and Jr NTR who are popular names in the Telugu film industry. In a recent interview, Ram Charan revealed why he agreed to be a part of the film.
He said that one major reason why he approved to do the project was his curiosity to see how director Rajamouli will be able to accommodate two big stars, both Jr NTR and him in his vision. He further added that RRR is arriving at a time when two-hero films are slowly disappearing from the trend.
In the interview with PTI, Ram Charan said, “Rajamouli was the sole reason why I said yes to the film. I had heard the story and I was mightily impressed, but it was only much later that I realised the mammoth scale it would be mounted on... What also worked was two actors, who were supposedly arch-rivals, coming together.... There was a lot of drama in that combination.”
He further added, “Two big stars coming together was always possible, we have seen many Hindi and south films do that. But then it stopped, nobody did multi-starrers. I don't know the reasons, maybe the economics didn't work. But only a Rajamouli film could bring two stars like us together.”
On his apprehensions of working alongside megastar Jr NTR, Charan said, “There was no apprehension. But it felt like a pleasant shock, purely because I kept wondering, 'How is this going to be possible?' From scheduling to shooting, how will the equation between us work out to the economics of it? But we surrendered to his vision. His vision became bigger than any of our needs or wants. That is what drove both of us”
