New Delhi: Popular comedian and actor Sunil Grover has been admitted to Mumbai's Asian Heart Institute. The 44-year-old actor has undergone heart surgery, after suffering from chest pain. 



The hospital authorities confirmed the news to ABP News. According to a source, "Sunil Grover is recuperating post his surgery and is doing well now." The hospital authorities refrained from divulging any other details.


The actor was shooting for his upcoming web-series when he left for his surgery.


Further details on the actor's health are awaited.


The actor, who gained popularity with his role as 'Gutthi' in comedian Kapil Sharma's 'The Kapil Sharma Show' has also proved his mettle by portraying serious roles in films like 'Gabbar' starring Akshay Kumar. He was last seen in a Zee5 original web-series titled 'Sunflower'. Directed by Vikas Bahl, it is a black comedy and stars Sunil Grover in the lead role as Sonu. Sunil is supported by a strong cast including Ranvir Shorey, Girish Kulkarni, Shonali Nagrani and Ashish Vidyarthi.


Sunil also bagged the Filmfare OTT Award 2021 in the Best Actor category for his role in the web-series 'Sunflower'. The cator took to his Instagram and expressed his gratitude on winning the award.


Sharing a picture of himself holding the black beauty, he wrote,"It gives me immense joy and happiness to receive this honor. Thank you Filmfare for thinking I was the best in the category. I like your choice. Though this year witnessed some great performances, but I am happy that I won. It is to all the people who loved ‘Sunflower’."


He also thanked his director Vikas Bahl, for believing in him.
