With the BJP scoring a historic win in the Delhi Assembly election after 26 years, all eyes are on PM Narendra Modi. It is usually the BJP's top leadership led by PM Modi that picks the Chief Minister of a state.

With the party heading towards a decisive win, the party faces the problem of plenty as there are several leaders who could take on the mantle of the Chief Minister of Delhi. Among the top contenders are Parvesh Verma, the son of former CM Sahib Singh, former MP Ramesh Bidhuri, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Dushyant Gautam.

Parvesh Verma

Parvesh Verma's claim to the CM's chair is the strongest as he defeated Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency. A former MP, Verma was dropped from the BJP's Lok Sabha election candidates' list last year. The BJP seemed to be planning for the Delhi Assembly elections way ahead, dropping Parvesh Verma.

In the assembly poll campaign, Parvesh Verma allegedly handed out cash and gifts to voters, asking them to vote for the BJP. Since 2008, the Delhi Chief Minister has come from the New Delhi constituency. Parvesh Verma has been one of the most vocal campaigners against the AAP and Arvind Kejriwal.

Vijender Gupta

Vijender Gupta is one of the top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and is a sitting MLA from the Rohini constituency. His claim is strong because he withstood the "Kejriwal wave" in the last 10 years. Born on August 14, 1963, Gupta began his political journey as the secretary of the Janata Vidyarthi Morcha at the age of 20.

Gupta served as a councillor in Rohini thrice and as the president of the Delhi BJP unit from 2010 to 2013. In the 2025 Delhi elections, Gupta defeated AAP candidate Pradeep Mittal and Congress candidate Sumesh Gupta in the Rohini seat in the 2025 Elections. Vijender Gupta has won the Rohini seat against the AAP's Pardeep Mittal in the 2025 elections.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa

Manjinder Singh Sirsa is a National Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party and is among the top contenders for the CM's post. Born on February 28, 1972, Sirsa won back the Rajouri Garden constituency after losing the seat in 2020. He is a former student of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, University of Delhi.

Sirsa was the joint MLA of Rajouri Garden from the BJP and the Akali Dal in the 2017 bypolls. Before joining the BJP in December 2021, he resigned from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). Sirsa has also served as the President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, elected first in 2013 and again in 2017.

Mohan Singh Bisht

Mohan Singh Bisht is an Indian politician with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was born on June 2, 1957. Bisht is currently a Member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly from the Karawal Nagar Vidhan Sabha constituency. He was elected successively in 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2020.

Bisht's political involvement began in 1976 when he joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, a predecessor to the BJP. In 1992, he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Bisht is also an active member of the Vishva Hindu Parishad. Before 2020, Bisht was a five-time MLA from Karawal Nagar, elected consecutively in 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2013. He lost the seat in 2015 to Kapil Mishra, who was in AAP back then.

In January 2025, the BJP initially replaced Bisht with Mishra as their candidate from Karawal Nagar for the upcoming Assembly elections, but later named Bisht as their candidate from Mustafabad. Bisht won the seat on February 8.
