New Delhi: National award winning actress Kangana Ranaut on Monday trained guns at the Congress party while interacting with media after casting her vote in Mumbai. She alleged that the previous Congress governments kept the country poor and urged people to vote for the country.

Attacking UPA chief Sonia Gandhi’s Italian origins, Kangana said, after Mughals and British, Italians enslaved the country.

She said that India is truly independent today as it is free from foreign rule, including rule of Italian government.

Kangana, who is known for her vocal comments and up-front answers, told reporters: “I feel now is the time when India is gaining independence in real terms, because earlier we were slaves of Mughal, British and Italian governments. So please exercise your franchise and vote.”

She went on to slam the Congress party and said, “Till Congress was in power, the country was  in deep crisis with prevalent problems of related to poverty, pollution or rapes. So, people should come out and vote for India”.

Ranaut has been open in her appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his leadership qualities.

Ranaut’s last film was Manikarnika in which she played the role of Rani Laxmibai. She will also be seen in the biopic of late politician Jayalalitha.
