Amid his campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi declared Wayanad as the most beautiful place on Earth. Additionally, he expressed that he would encourage his mother and senior party leader to spend a few days in Wayanad.

During a roadshow in Sultan Bathery in the hill district, the Wayanad MP expressed that whenever he visits the region, it feels like coming home. Gandhi also mentioned his plans to encourage his mother to visit Wayanad.

"I was telling (K C) Venugopal today that whenever I come here, I feel like coming home. Now I am going to pressure my mother to stay with you for one week or ten days. I would tell her to come for one month, but she has a slight problem with humidity. But I told her that you are missing the most beautiful place on earth," Gandhi said, as per a report on PTI.

On Monday, as part of his campaign, Gandhi visited the Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu, engaging in discussions with students at the Arts and Science College. Subsequently, he proceeded to Sulthan Bathery in Kerala, where he opted for an unconventional mode of travel atop a car with its roof open, facilitating direct interaction with locals throughout the journey.

The Congress leader arrived in Wayanad to commence the second phase of his election campaign. He had initiated the poll campaign in Wayanad earlier this month by filing his nomination papers and leading a significant roadshow.

Gandhi secured victory from Wayanad with a remarkable margin of 4,31,770 votes during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Meanwhile, Left parties, who have established the region as their stronghold, are miffed by Rahul's contest in Kerala.

Polling for Kerala's 20 Lok Sabha seats is scheduled for April 26.
